On this page we give a short briefing of the "highlights" that can be visited from Scharmer. These are the best and most beautiful places in the area: Groningen, Appingedam, the castle Fraeylemaborg in Slochteren and the surroundings of Noord- and Zuidlaren (Drenthe). We have already collected some information for you. You can find it at the top of the page, under the heading "Environment".
The village of Scharmer is located in the municipality Slochteren, a village which lends itself perfectly for cycling and walking. Since 2017, the route of Het Roots nature trail passes through our B & B. And nearby is the nature reserve "t Roegwold. A short distance from Scharmer you find the Schildmeer, in the summer it’s a nice place for recreation, sailing and windsurfing. Under the heading "Activities" we have described a cycle route along the Schildmeer. Here you will also find a cycle route around the Zuidlaardermeer.
The nearby recreation area, Break Out Grunopark, is located at 3 km of Scharmer and offers plenty of opportunities including water skiing and swimming. In the nearby village of Woudbloem, less than 2 km of Scharmer, there are possibilities for canoing.
In the nearby village of Harkstede, from our B&B just a 5 minutes’ walk, are the most obvious stores, amongst others a grocery store, flower shop, hairdresser, bicycle shop and a post office. You can also visit the mill in Harkstede if you’d like to.
